Instructors are unable to engage with individual students in large courses. As a result, fewer students participate in learning activities. Interactive Learning combines the delivery of theory in short cycles with exercises and individual feedback. Artemis is a new learning platform based on this idea that supports interactive programming, modeling, text and quiz exercises. Empirical evaluations show that interactive learning improves engagement by up to 165% and learning success by up to 87%. Semi-automated assessment with machine learning reduces assessment effort by up to 80%.
